Third OPV Delivered to Dutch Navy

This week Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding, Netherlands delivered the third Holland Class OPV, the Friesland to the Royal Netherlands Navy. There are four 3,750 t displacement vessels in the class with LOA 354 ft (108 m), beam 52 ft (16 m) and draft 15 ft (4.6 m). The CODLOD arrangement comprises two MAN 12V28/33D diesels each of 5,460 kW at 1,000 rpm driving a Renk ASL 85E reduction gearbox with 400W PTI (Power Take-In). There are two shafts with Rolls-Royce 5 blade controllable pitch propellers. Running on electric power only through the PTIs the ship can reach up to about 10 kn, on full power the speed is 21.5 kn. Italian Hybrid OSV

Italian shipyard Cantieri Navali Megaride is constructing an offshore supply vessel (OSV) Guardia Costiera. The vessel has a LOA of 65 m and beam of 12 m, and is designed by Errenavi, Rome to RINA classification society rules and features a CODLOD hybrid propulsion system provided by Siemens Siship EcoProp. A two shaft propulsion arrangement uses Caterpillar 3512C main diesel engines each driving a ZF 9300 PTI transmission with Siemens180 kW electric motors Electrical power is supplied by four Caterpillar C18 gensets each of 275 kW output.
