After a period of cooperation lasting about nine years, the joint venture between Cummins and Brunswick’s Mercury Marine division is to end. CumminsMerCruiser (CMD) was set up in 2002 as a 50/50 joint venture between Cummins and Brunswick’s Mercury Marine division to supply integrated diesel propulsion systems worldwide to commercial and recreational markets. Cummins supplied their engines below 15 liters and Mercury their MerCruiser diesels sourced from various engine builders including Isuzu/GM and Detroit Diesel’s VM engines. MerCruiser also provided their range of sterndrives. CMD , with offices in Charleston and Pessac, France, will be dissolved and the changeover of responsibilities will continue into 2012. Mercury and Cummins will work together to ensure a smooth orderly transition. [More]
