Italian shipyard Cantieri Navali Megaride is constructing an offshore supply vessel (OSV) Guardia Costiera. The vessel has a LOA of 65 m and beam of 12 m, and is designed by Errenavi, Rome to RINA classification society rules and features a CODLOD hybrid propulsion system provided by Siemens Siship EcoProp. A two shaft propulsion arrangement uses Caterpillar 3512C main diesel engines each driving a ZF 9300 PTI transmission with Siemens180 kW electric motors Electrical power is supplied by four Caterpillar C18 gensets each of 275 kW output. Austal’s Cape Class Patrol Boat

Austal is to supply the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service with a fleet of eight Cape Class Patrol Boats. The US $ 375 million contract includes through life support for eight years. Construction of the first hull is due to commence this month with completion planned for March 2013. Delivery date for the completion of the contract for all eight vessels is in the third quarter of 2015. The new vessels have an LOA of 190 ft (58 m) and are powered twin Caterpillar 3516C diesel engines, driving fixed pitch propellers. Maximum speed is 25 kn and range is 4,000+ nautical miles at 12 kn.
